Mindfulness has a different meaning for everyone.
The two main thoughts on mindfulness is one of mainly a spiritual focus and the other, more of a western focus of mainstream, slightly on the physical. Either a little too Whoo Whoo for some or too hardcore for others.
Whichever way suits or balance of the two, your own way is the right way. It may be easy to achieve for some people and others to find it takes time and practice. It is only your experience that counts. You are the only one living in your mind, body and soul.
Mindfulness is the complete opposite of mindlessness. Mindlessness is being completely unaware of others and of yourself. Bumbling through life, living in past traumas or living in the future, when you are wanting something in your life and not yet having it. Advertisers, media, materialism, consumerism. Wanting more and more stuff to make you happy. It is the looking outside of yourself that will make you feel better.
But feeling better is only temporary. But being a better person is a solid place to be. When you have the ability to be happy, peaceful, content with who you are, no matter what you have, where you live, who you know, what you know. Mindfulness is knowing who you are, awareness of yourself on all levels. Grateful for everything and everyone in your life, no matter what they do or say.
Now, this sounds too good to be true for some people. Siding on the Whoo Whoo. But it doesn’t have to be. It is when you can not make any excuses about who you are, judgements on others, you will find that sweet spot. That place that feels good. Peace, Bliss, Calm.
